Tagging bookmarks
  • tagging for relevant catagories
  • tagging to find later or to share specifically with a group i.e. bchs_worldciv_09
  • tagging to share with others across platforms i.e. I tag write2learn so that anyone in the Content Literacy Ning can find my writing to learn resources even though they are in Diigo and not Ning
Sharing with groups and individuals
  • I share bookmarks that are pertinent to specific groups
  • I share with specific individuals *
  • I send bookmarks to email lists as an easy way to share resources to people who aren't members of Diigo, since many of my colleagues aren't aware of the product
Highlighting and inserting sticky notes
  • I hightlight aspects I want to save and save those to lists creating a resource page
  • I add sticky notes to share with specific people around specific topics i.e. I was sharing a Smartboard page that discussed modeling computation with my MSP project group and inserted a sticky note that referenced an activity we did with that group of teachers. It was relevant, specific, and I wanted to draw their attention to this extension.
  • Still a relatively new idea for me and since few of my colleagues are involved with Diigo at this time I have not used it as extensively as I would like.
Commenting About bookmarks
  • I comment on almost all of the bookmarks I keep, so that I can begin to organize my thinking
  • I comment because I also know that my bookmarks are going to be posted as an automatic post on my blog, and I want to offer some explanation about my thinking.
  • I comment and share hoping to develop a dialogue with people. It hasn't started working yet, but I think there are lots of reasons why and I still believe that this will be a useful tool for that purpose
Tag/Bookmark Rolls
  • I created both to share the bookmarks I'm finding on the Ning, my blog, and a math wiki I've developed for another project. It's another way of sharing resources
  • The tag roll allows people to pull up topic specific bookmarks
  • The bookmark list allows people to explore the most recent sites I or the group have posted.
Developing a Professional Network
  • It's about sharing, learning, and having fun.
Create Lists- similar to google notebook, i post thoughts about a topic, bookmarks about that topic, share it with a list or group of friends. I'm working on a couple of articles that I'm co-authroing and the other authors have access to the rough drafts, can edit, addd to etc.

Ideas not yet utilized but that I'm aware of
  • Discussion pages
  • Student use of the above features to work collaboratively
  • Teacher's ability to monitor work, offer input, use as a process analyzer
  • ???

Podcast Specifics**
  • Create a Webex Teleconference and record the teleconference
  • Create a Skype Conversation and record
    • Not sure about either one, I've never tried to record on Skype
    • Have recorded on Webex, but not sure if I can convert.
  • I would like to keep the conversation between 10-15 minutes, but I'm not opposed to two takes
  • Create an outline (which is what we are doing) pair topics down to two or three key questions that we want to discuss and develop
